Outdoor Exercise Information
Each can be varied to make it more or less complicated. Time limits vary but on average each exercises takes about 40 minutes. Basic descriptions are given below.
The Stepping Stones
A shallow pit. A set of fixed stones cunningly placed. The problem - to get your team and equipment across without falling into the pit.
The Island
Three fixed pontoons in a pond. The problem - get your team, it's supplies and its drinking water across with seemingly inadequate equipment without falling in the pond.
The Gate
A framed gate set in the middle of an "alarmed" security fence, trip wires either side. The problem - get an oil drum and your team through the gate without setting off the "alarm".
The Bridge
A long tank of water spanned by two beams. The problem - transport your team across the tank, using a quantity of planks, without touching the beams or falling in the water.
The Balance
A square no-go area edged in wood. Under an upturned bucket is a ball. The bucket is on a pulley. The problem - retrieve ball without going in the no-go area using the limited equipment provided.
The Ring
A ringed area divided by posts and ropes. The problem - move team and equipment across without touching either ropes, posts or the ground.
Escape From The Ring
The team and equipment are penned up in a rope ring. The problem - escape without touching the top rope or going under it.
The Egg & Goblet
A square no-go area. In the centre a low table on which is an egg under an upturned goblet. The problem - stand goblet on the table the right way up with the unbroken egg in it using the miscellaneous items of equipment provided.
The Tube
A small heavy sealed plastic canister is at the bottom of a vertical plastic tube in the middle of a no-go area. The problem - recover the plastic canister.
